The Platform Is the Policy
Defaults govern more people than rules do.

Policy documents matter less than platform defaults, and platform defaults matter more than anyone admits in the roadmap review.
We saw this shipping dark-heart-themes: the acceptable-use page said one thing about data visibility. The extension panel defaulted to settings most streamers never opened. Behaviour followed the dropdown, not the legal PDF. Nobody read the policy. Everybody lived inside the surface — the toggle position, the friction on change, the speed of the path we marked as recommended.
The mechanism is scale. A rule read by compliance does not scale to ten thousand creators clicking through onboarding at midnight. A default scales automatically. Move the friction, change the pre-checked box, add the confirmation step — and you have changed behaviour for everyone who never reads the docs.
If you want a culture shift, argue about the default before you argue about the policy page. What people do is what you built. What you wrote is what they cite when something goes wrong.
