Virtue of Devotion
Devotion is repetition, not romance.
Devotion is not fever. It is showing up after the fever has filed its report.
The altar of daily work — dishes, patience, the same route to the same grief — is less photogenic than surrender and more difficult to fake.
You do not owe the universe your performance of loyalty. You owe the practice your honest attendance.
Devotion ends where martyrdom begins. The line is thinner than scripture admits.
The practice keeps its own hours.
