Guide to Living a Good Life

life free verse place return

Virtue as practice, not poster.

Virtue is not a halo you inherit. It is labor — the harder right when the shortcut winks from the corner bar.

Righteousness starts indoors, in the small rooms no committee audits: what you return, what you refuse, what you name out loud.

Kindness is not softness for its own sake. It is muscle — lifting someone else’s weather without requiring a receipt.

Honor ages better than charm. Charm gets you seated; honor gets you home with your name still intact.

No one becomes a paragon by announcement. You become it the way brass learns a tune — repeat, miss, repeat, until the line lands true even when the crowd stops listening.

The code still holds when the light goes dim.
