Facets of Solitude

life free verse place return

Alone has many rooms — some you choose.

Solitude wears more than one face.

Recluse is not always exile — sometimes it is throne, your own pace kept while the street argues with itself.

Introversion is metabolism, not defect. You step back from the scene and the scene keeps score anyway.

Hermitage confuses people who measure worth by visible attendance.

Sanctuary is real: peace stocked on the shelf, courage drawn when tides collide.

Prison is also real — darkness magnified by the story you tell in the quiet.

In New Orleans even alone is public somehow. Still the choice remains: refuge or sentence, rest or rot.

Same room. Different verdict. You still hold the key.
