Gemini is Google Search with a chat box. The index is still the asset. The box is how you keep people from walking to a chat vendor that does not already own the crawl.
I use Search the way everyone else does, including the Gemini-branded answers that now sit on top of the blue links. I do not work at Google. The public product is the argument: AI Overviews, Gemini in the bar, a model family that shares a name with the chat app. The risk for a writer is treating the paragraph above the links as a citation. It is a completion trained to sound like an answer, backed by a company whose actual machine is ranking.
Search was always a mediator. The chat box makes the mediation look like a conversation. That is a UX upgrade and an accountability downgrade. A link has a URL you can punish. A paragraph has a vibe. I still click through. mystic-bytes still has to be findable as a page, not as a sentence inside Gemini’s summary of a query that happened to include the studio.
Use Gemini as a faster search session. Do not use it as a library. The crawl is the product. The box is the costume. If the overview is wrong, the failure is the same old Search failure with better grammar: you trusted a mediator you did not open.
