The Essay Is an Experiment
To essay is to try, and trying is its own value.

An essay is an attempt in public — not a verdict dressed as prose.
The word comes from essayer: to try. The mystic-bytes corpus exists in that spirit — each piece a test claim with mechanism attached, not a press release pretending the thinking finished before the writing started.1 Modern blog culture inverts this. Posts arrive as conclusions, optimized for confidence and SEO, which flattens the interesting part: the writer still learning on the page.
That posture matters for technical work too. The design doc that admits uncertainty invites better review. The postmortem that performs certainty hides the second failure waiting in the assumptions you did not examine.
Write the piece where you do not yet know the answer. State the thesis, show your work, leave room to revise when evidence disagrees.
Readers will follow you into the question if you stop pretending you arrived before they did.
