Bay Laurel Oil for Focus Sessions

Spicy-green, a little camphoraceous — short sessions, real ventilation.

[ wellness ]

Bay laurel is spicy-green and a little camphoraceous. It does not belong in an all-day loop. I use it for a short focus block, then I stop, because the same note that can feel clarifying at ten minutes can feel like a stuffy kitchen at forty.

Ventilation is not optional. A cracked window or a door that is actually open. Low drop count in a diffuser, fifteen to twenty minutes, then off. If my throat or chest complains, the session is over. That is data, not toughness. Laurel leaf oil can irritate airways. Pets should not be in the plume. I do not run it in a sealed bedroom overnight.

It may help some people mark a deep-work window the way a particular playlist does. It does not improve cognition. It does not replace sleep or a walk. Dilute if it touches skin. Do not ingest it. Store it away from heat.

If you are pregnant, nursing, or managing a chronic condition, ask someone qualified. This is not medical advice. I keep bay laurel off the “everyday desk blend” list on purpose. Spicy-green oils earn their place as a timer, not as atmosphere you forget is running.
